Adriana Monk's design studio Monk Design (https://www.monk-design.com/) has been appointed to pen the interior design, accommodation and layout, which have all changed significantly since they were first announced.

Working closely with naval architect Juan Kouyoumdjian (http://www.juanyachtdesign.com/), the owner's team, skipper and the yard, Monk has created a "light-weight luxury capsule" in keeping with the yacht's "revolutionary" style, the yard said. Monk was urged to "think spaceship" in penning the design, it added.

The decor and layout "challenges the traditional approach", resulting in an interior that is "innovative in every way" and embraces "comfort, weight, safety and acoustic isolation."

Currently in-build at Finnish sailing yacht specialist Nautor’s Swan, the first hull in the ClubSwan 125 is due to launch in summer 2020.

The first hull in the performance line was ordered by a client described as “a knowledgeable and skilled racing owner”.

Speaking earlier this year at Boot Dusseldorf, Nautor's Swan chief executive Giovanni Pomati said that the "the initial brief was for the fastest superyacht ever built."

He added that a number of modifications have been made to ensure the yacht is capable of breaking transatlantic records.

He said: "The level of quality and technology is setting a new frontier. The proportions and loads applied have challenged us into doing something that has never been done.”

Naval architecture and exterior design by Juan Kouyoumdjian includes the innovative addition of a single curved foil that provides sideways and vertical lift in varying conditions. It will also reduce the drag of the hull and loss of dynamic righting movement.

Meanwhile the canting keel will provide the highest righting movement with minimum weight impact. Details about engine installation are still unclear.

Nautor's Swan has also teamed up with additional designers, builders and suppliers to supplement the work of Kouyoumdjian and Nautor’s in-house experts. Industry expert Killian Bushe has been brought on board for the construction of the hull while Bob Wylie will focus on the yacht’s deck and sail handling capabilities.

Construction is underway on the ClubSwan 125 which is set to be launched next year Kouyoumdjian said the new model would be “the fastest monohull ever conceived.”

“The complete trust of the owner and his desire to create a high-performance superyacht are the perfect ingredients for a designer,” he said. “We can’t have a better environment and I think we are doing something that will set a milestone in the sailing world.”
