Superyacht Cup Palma announces that the J Class will join Europe's longest running superyacht regatta in 2022.

The J Class Association and their proud owners have unanimously chosen the famous Mallorca festival! This is one of three events scheduled for next year's racing season. Three yachts will definitely participate - Topaz, Ranger and Velsheda.

J Class is in the race and in order to host the class without problems, a few things had to be changed. For example, the J Class association had to go through a fair amount of consultations with SYC, the racing partner of the Real Club Náutico de Palma.



In addition, representatives of other superyacht teams, who also want to take part, took part in the preparation.

Why was the date shifted?

Thus, it was decided that in 2022 the race will take place from June 29 to July 2. Last year, for example, these dates were shifted a week earlier - June 22-25.



“It is very exciting to host the J-Class again in Palma, where they will no doubt provide an incredible spectacle,” said SYC Director Keith Branagh.

“We moved the race after long discussions with representatives of other classes. So we found a compromise in which everyone will be happy ”.

The J Class has long been associated with the Superyacht Cup Palma and most of the existing boats of the class have taken part in this regatta on several occasions. The already legendary Velsheda showed its superyacht rivals what it can do, topping the leaderboard in 2018.



Class Secretary Louise Morton said: “The Superyacht Cup Palma has built its reputation for its unique atmosphere, intense races and excellent conditions. So the decision to include it in the 2022 season was not difficult. ”

This decision was warmly accepted by the captains and crews. Last but not least Velsheda! “We have raced the Superyacht Cup many times. And we are glad to be back! ”- says the captain of the yacht Barney Henshaw-Delegation.



“We expect a comfortable wave and great sea breeze in the summer. We are looking forward to this event! And, of course, we hope for a glorious fight in the races. We hope to get a good result! "

The Palma Superyacht Cup will open with a superyacht registration and captain's briefing on Wednesday 29 June 2022, followed by three days of races ending Saturday 2 July.
