Croatia is preparing to build a marina in Rijeka

ACI Marinas and Lürssen will develop the Croatian marina. The new marina will accommodate 260 berths.



The Croatian company ACI-Gitone is currently finalizing the documentation for the commencement of construction work at the Porto Baroš marina in Rijeka, on the Adriatic coast in Croatia.

By the way, ACI-Gitone is a joint venture between the local operator ACI Marinas and the German shipbuilder Lürssen.

ACI Marinas says the operator is optimistic about 2022. These expectations are associated with positive results in the third quarter of 2021.

More specifically about the marina

The cost of the project in Rijeka is expected to be about CZK 363 million (US$54.5 million). Moreover, the joint venture will receive a 30-year concession to operate it.

Kristijan Pavic, Chairman of the Board of ACI Marinas, says: “The third quarter showed the full potential of the Croatian tourism and yachting industry. We generated more revenue this quarter than we did in the record-breaking 2019.”



Right now, the final documents are being prepared before the start of construction. For a successful start, it remains only to submit documents on the study of the impact of the marina on the environment. After that, the administration of the city of Rijeka will approve the start of construction.

Recall that Rijeka is located in the north-west of the country, the population is about 214,000 people.
