Garmin has announced the release and software update of Navionics+ and its premium version of Navionics Vision+. These programs are designed for Garmin chartplotters as well as peripheral devices.

What is special about Garmin software?

Versatility has been and continues to be the main selling point of all Garmin mapping products. A wide variety of cards, as well as tools for working with them, allowed the company to gain well-deserved popularity.

Actually, new versions of programs should favorably differ from old ones. So it is - the new software offers a lot of new interesting features, which we'll talk about below.

Reworked cards

Navionics+ and Navionics Vision+ feature an improved look and feel, a brighter color palette, and more detailed coastal and marine features. 



The new interface displays maps with amazing detail and a detailed depth map. Garmin also provides maps with the exact location of various underwater features.

Up to 5,000 daily updates

Garmin mapping products update up to 5,000 maps daily. It is the frequency of map and data updates that makes Garmin products so convenient. Wherever you are, you always get the latest information.

Map data is obtained from various meteorological and geodetic research centers. Often, Navionics users themselves notify about changes in certain places. All this together makes it possible to track weather conditions in almost real time.



In addition to nautical charts, Garmin offers maps of rivers and lakes. The rivers are full of narrowness and small crossings, in which case a daily update will come in handy.

When you purchase Navionics+ or Navionics Vision+, you get an annual subscription. It allows you to quickly and easily sync your mobile device with chartplotters for daily updates using the ActiveCaptain smart device app.

Advanced automatic routing technology

The new Garmin programs also include Auto Guidance+3 technology. The technology allows you to make faster route calculations and gives tips on difficult sections of the path.



After choosing your departure and arrival points, Auto Guidance+ takes into account many factors. A suggested route is then created for the skipper to follow to their destination.

Garmin Navionics Vision+ Premium Content

For more advanced features, you can upgrade to the premium version of Navionics Vision+. The premium version of Navionics+ includes all standard features plus:

• sonar images,
• unique 3D views,
• high resolution satellite imagery
• aerial photography and more.

Premium versions of Navionics+ and Navionics Vision+ can be purchased as an app or microSD card for compatible Garmin chartplotters. Retail price is from $129.99 to $399.99. Compatible chartplotters can be upgraded to Navionics+ with the purchase of an upgrade microSD card. Simply install the map to get the program and access to daily updates.

Where can programs be installed?

Navionics+ and Navionics Vision+ are compatible with current Garmin chartplotters including GPSMAP® 8400/8600, GPSMAP 7x3/9x3/12x3, ECHOMAP™ Ultra, ECHOMAP UHD and more.



Previous chartplotter models, such as the GPSMAP 7x2 series, will continue to have access to BlueChart g3 coastal chart updates and LakeVü g3 inland chart updates with Navionics data.
