Marina: the main events of the last two weeks

The last weeks delight everyone who is not indifferent with a large amount of news from the world of yachting. Today we decided to review several important events in the field of marinas and nautical tourism. It will be about the Croatian conference, the new marina in Saudi Arabia and the meeting of the heads of the French maritime tourism associations.

Croatian Dubrovnik Conference and Marine Development

The conference took place recently at the ACI Marina in Dubrovnik. ACI owns 22 marinas in Croatia. The conference was dedicated to the future of the Croatian maritime tourism sector and its modernization.

The conference is organized by ACI and Slobodna Dalmacija. Topics such as trends and problems in maritime tourism were discussed. They did not forget about the possibilities of improving the existing developments and how this can be developed in the future.



The conference was attended by the Minister of Tourism and Sports of Croatia Nikolina Brnac, Director of the Croatian Tourism Council Kristjan Stanicic and ACI Director Kristian Pavic.

The conference participants concluded that, despite the impact of the pandemic, the maritime tourism sector recovered faster than other types of tourism. Despite this, Pavic recognized the difference between Dubrovnik and other sectors. The fact is that recovery has been slower in the south than at charter bases in the north. This happened due to the fact that the northern regions have a greater flow of tourists than the southern ones.

New Marina in Saudi Arabia

Jeddah Yacht Club (JYC) Marina, the first marina on the Red Sea coast. JYC is capable of accommodating over 100 yachts and superyachts up to 120 meters in length.

According to the project developer, SELA, the combined JYC Marina and Jeddah Yacht Club, are “part of the innovation within the Vision 2030 program”. This program aims to increase the growth of Saudi Arabia's maritime industry and create new jobs. Among other things, this project will contribute to the development of culture, entertainment and sports.



The marina really started to work in full force on the eve of the opening of the Formula 1 Grand Prix. The race was not only a test for the country - Saudi Arabia is hosting the show for the first time - the marina was also used to the maximum for the first time. The first stage of the race began quite recently, last weekend (3-5 December).

Guests aboard megayachts such as the 95m M / YO Pari built by Golden Yachts, the 85m Oceanco Sunrays and the 82m Abeking & Rasmussen RoMEA join a fleet of over 40 superyachts and small boats from JYC Marina near the circuit ...

"French Banquet": results of the meeting

The French Marine Federation, the Brittany Marine Association and the Atlantic Marine Association have finally had an official meeting.

The conference discussed the results of the last three years of cooperation and the impact of the pandemic. Because of the disease that gripped the planet, these French associations had to work together.   



As part of the new agreements, the associations talked about priority work in the context of environmental, digital and infrastructural changes in marinas. Topics concern, in particular, changes in marinas infrastructural and ideological.

All this is done in order to simplify the operation of marinas, establish well-considered interaction strategies and improve the quality of service for yachts and yachtsmen.
