Crewsaver Atacama Sport+ Wetsuit

Alpenglow rechargeable flashlight

Not enough light? Let's highlight! We can say that this was the motto of Biolite Energy. The company has developed a rechargeable flashlight Alpenglow, the feature of which is the imitation of natural light. Alpenglow will come to the rescue both in the hold and in the cockpit!



The Alpenglow cordless flashlight uses Biolite's ChromaReal LED technology. You can adjust the lighting settings to get a warm or cool shade of light. In addition, the lamp can be adjusted in brightness. It can simulate the flickering of a candle or create any color you like.

It comes in two versions, one with 250 lumens and the other with 500 lumens. Both have decent runtimes of 5 hours at full power or over 200 hours at reduced power. The four small LEDs at the base of the flashlight are used as a charge indicator. Charging takes just three hours using a standard 5V USB cable.

Both models also feature a useful fold-out hanging hook. They are IPX4 waterproof. This corresponds to light rain or splashes, but not water immersion. Biolite claims they can be left outdoors overnight and are dew resistant.

The Alpenglow 250 is £54.99 and the 500 lumen model is £79.99.

Aegina Pure Water Purifier

Aegina-Pure is produced in three packages. The devices can produce 6, 12 or 18 liters of clean water per minute. Naturally, they consume more power: 72W, 144W and 216W respectively. It is possible to create a larger displacement, but this must be agreed on an individual basis.

The Aegina-Pure water purifier is quite compact: all devices measure 304mm x 202mm. The inlet and outlet fittings accept standard 1/2 in. (12 mm) plumbing hoses.

There are no consumables, filters in the system. Annual maintenance can be quickly completed by the boat owner without the need for tools or spare parts. Aegina-Pure also eliminates the need for bottled water on board, saving plastic and space. The 3-litre unit is priced at £1,974 and is expected to be in stock by the end of the first quarter of this year.
